June 7-July 27 Boy Scout Archaeology Workshops

Are you a Boy Scout age 9 or older and interested in archaeology? Check out our workshops! All workshops run from 9am-1:30pm.

What Is Archaeology?: Discover what archaeology is while also learning about career opportunities, the archaeological process, and how you can help protect the past.

Field Days: Participate in a dig at an active archaeological site. *Transportation to the archaeological site is not provided. We request that at least one parent or troop leader per 4 campers be present at the archaeological site. Since this is an active site, closed toed shoes are required.*

Lab Days: Learn about and experience an active archaeology lab. Help sort artifacts, and learn about lab    procedures.

Exhibit Design: In this two day workshop, learn the basics of exhibit design and work with your fellow   campers to design one of the museum’s Native Peoples exhibit cases!

For specific dates, registration prices, and registration deadlines, please see the chart below.

Each workshop or workshop series meets some of the Archaeology Merit Badge requirements. For more details please contact Education Coordinator, Amanda Lanum, at (361) 582-2559 or amanda.lanum@victoriacollege.edu. To register please stop by the Museum of the Coastal Bend or visit our website museumofthecoastalbend.org to download registration forms.
