Russell K. Skowronek examines archaeological sites and historic records in this illuminating talk about the nature of pirates, pirate politics, and the continuing legacy of pirates. Skowronek is professor of anthropology and history at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and coauthor of several books about the archaeology of piracy. A book-signing will immediately follow the lecture.
