*LaSalle Odyssey Exhibit Tour: Thursday, Mar. 14, 2 p.m. Join Dr. Heather Para, Exhibits and Collections Manager, for a tour of the museum's LaSalle Odyssey exhibit. Discover the fascinating tale of the French attempt to found a colony at the mouth of the Mississippi River in 1685. Instead, the colonists landed in Matagorda Bay, TX, and most met an untimely demise from illness, the environment, and conflict with native inhabitants. In the museum's permanent exhibit, participants will examine maritime, military, and personal artifacts excavated from the colony and shipwreck of the Belle.
